Blackburn Crud

We're none of perfect and it must be admitted that some Blackburns are capable of failure. These are the manifestations of such lapses I have found so far.

Victorian Village Collectible 1996 Edition, The Blackburn Tavern. Hand painted lighted procelain tavern. This is a beautiful piece and very well done. Has orginal box. Shipping is $10.25 and insurance is $1.10 extra, heavy sturdy piece. One of my favorite pieces. All villages need a tavern now don't they. Not to early to think about holiday decorating and gift giving.
Some people will try to sell anything on eBay. Not even I would pay good money for a jam jar lid, but here's the picture and the sales pitch

This item is a lid from a Blackburn's Blackberry Jelly Jar. It is in very good condition. Printing (not shown) is still visible on the edge of the lid. Still smells sweetly of blackberry jelly. Buyer pays shipping costs. Payment is to be made by money order please.

In similar vein
This auction is for five BLACKBURN jelly jars with metal lids. These jars came with jelly in them and can be used for drinking glasses. Each one is shaped like a mug and is made of clear glass. Each one has it's original lid. All are in super good condition. I believe these would hold about 12 ounces of liquid and they measure 5 1/4" high. My neighbor has saved these glasses and has asked me to put them on eBay for her. She says they are nice to drink from or put your own homemade jelly in.
and again (20th October 2001)
This is a Blackburn's (I think Jelly) Jar. It has a handle so it's perfect for using as a drinking glass. It's in excellent condition.

A marginally interesting postcard of Amarillo, Texas, in which can allegedly be seen a store called Blackburn Bros

Postally unused, color, divided back photo by Floyd Lane. Distributed by: Baxter Lane Co., Box 175 Amarillo, Texas. View of Polk Street at night in downtown Amarillo. Lots of mid 1950s era autos visible. Also store signs easily readable are: Blackburn Brothers, Levines, Walgreens and Zales Jewelers.

That must be where they made that stylish jacket above. I do like the phrase "postally unused".

This is the ugliest item found so far, thus illustrating that antiquity does not guarantee acceptability.
